25 Christmas Movies to enjoy this Holiday Season -

Over Thanksgiving this year, we were all sitting around the table, having one of our patented Hectic Family discussions. That is to say, the whole lot of us were participating in conversations, and several people were participating in more than one discussion. It’s pretty normal for the ten of us to be having upwards of five simultaneous discussions. In a somewhat odd occurrence, we all gravitated to a single topic–our favorite Christmas movies. The conversation went on for quite a while, and at the culmination, we’d settled on these as our top 25 movies for the Christmas season.

There were some disagreements about which versions of particular movies were the best (especially A Christmas Carol and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas), but it’s my blog, so I included links to the versions that I liked the most. When my kids have their own blogs they’re free to include other versions. That’s one of the perks of being the author of the blog (and the Dad).

The movies are listed in alphabetical order, because we simply couldn’t come to an agreement as to which were favorites, or any sort of reasonable order. I also ignored the kids’ requests to link to colorized versions of the movies. I really don’t have any problem with the colorized versions of some of movies that were originally released in Black & White, but I think you need to watch them in their original format before you even entertain the idea of watching a colorized version. It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street just have to be seen in their full B&W renditions to be fully appreciated, in my opinion.
