Hectic Family and their Weekend Fuel

The Hectic SuperheroesAs you may have read, the entire Hectic Clan was here at Hectic Manor last weekend. It’s been a while since I’ve had everybody home, so my meal planning, shopping, and preparation skills have gotten rusty. Here’s a list of things that we had to have on hand at all times during the five day weekend. This may look like I spoil my kids…and in truth I do. But only to a point. Food serves two purposes for the Hectic Clan: Fuel and Fun. When we eat together, we have conversations. The better the food, the better the conversation…so I stock up with what everybody likes.

Hectic 19 and Plus 1Honestly, that’s not the entire must have on-hand at all times list. I just got tired of trying to remember everything we had on hand and/or went out to purchase. It was a fantastic weekend and we all had a blast. We play hard, so we eat a lot. But look closely at the photos…I’m the only overweight one of the bunch. I’m also the only one who took over 28 minutes to finish the 5k. I came in at 42 minutes. The rest, including Hectic Grandson and his Mom, finished under that 28 minute mark. Damned impressive if you ask me.

Hectic 19 and his girlfriend are both college athletes. He competes in the 110 High Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, and the Decathlon. She competes in pretty much anything the coaches sign her up for, starting with the Heptathlon and working her way through all the events on the track.

It’s important to me that my crew exercises, eats, and gets out there to compete. Just for that I’m willing to make a dozen trips to the grocery store over one weekend to keep them fueled!

    • We’re all together again as group to celebrate Hectic 20’s birthday. After a 5K run to start the day, my crew came home and we had a huge breakfast. Afterwards they went to the community pool, with several planning to workout. They make me tired just watching them.

I just turned around to notice that we had four varieties of M&Ms in bowls on the table. You’d fit in well here LOL.

      Make it a great day!

  1. Ok so yea that list has just made me seriously hungry! Glad you all had such an awesome weekend! Thanks for linking up to the #MMWBH 🙂

    • The best part of the list making you hungry is that you can make it the basis for a shopping list. Just grab it and go!

Thanks for popping over from #MMWBH. I’ve had a lot of fun linking up and really enjoy reading things from new people.

Make it a great day…at the grocery store!

  2. Wow that is quite a list! What are triscuits though? And apart from sweet potato what is the difference between gross version and the not gross version?
Thanks for linking up on #SundayStars

    • Triscuits are a wheat cracker (biscuit on your side of the pond, right?). They’re woven, have lots of nooks and crannies, and hold up well to spreading and dipping. I love every variety, both with and without sweet potato as the base. The bakery has been working to create healthier options and they’ve added both sweet potato and bean as the basis for some of their crackers. You should hear the whining when we run out of a favorite kind around here. It’s as if the world had ended!

Thanks for popping over from #SundayStars. I love the linky and finding new folks near and far to interact with.

      Make it a great day!
