You just can’t beat free!
Things have been crazy the last few weeks in the Hectic Household. Well, crazier than our version of normal!
Hectic Grandson had his first birthday, and with the milestone we’ve decided that we’re going to read to him more. A lot more. We pulled out all our Dr. Seuss books, along with all the tried and true early childhood books. Unfortunately, as a true child of the 21st century, he’s more interested in our iPads than the cloth and cardboard books. So I started searching for some ebooks that we could read to him while he flipped the digital pages. While I thought all four of the books that I’ve included were too advanced for him, he really seems to like them. So much for my prior knowledge…I’ve learned so many new things from his little guy!
Our next big milestone will be another High School graduation. When that daughter heads off to college, we’ll only have two of our younger kids living at home. That’s created an interesting situation, where we’ve blended our oldest daughter and her son back into the household at the same time that the core family is spreading out and shrinking. I got to thinking about how different it will be to have such a small group living here full time, and decided it was time to consider making some improvements in the way the family functions. Communication was at the top of the list. In addition, with four identified gifted kids in the family, and a clear understanding that the other four are equally gifted, it’s always been a struggle for me to know how to interact. On the one hand, the kids are vastly more capable than their peers at some tasks. Yet on other levels they’re more sensitive and sometimes prone to emotional instability. It’s a fine line to communicate, so I was elated to find a book that addresses raising gifted kids.
Finally, I’m hard at work on two other projects…both involving a lot of photography. With wrestling and volleyball season over, I won’t be doing as much sports photography for a couple weeks. Track will be starting soon, but until then I wanted to take some time to gather some new skills into my toolbox. I only included eight of the books that I found. These are the eight that I was able to peruse enough to be able to assess their quality. I’ve got a long list of other photography books to go through, so this may be a regular section in my free ebook posts. Because photography, especially digital photography, is such a technical endeavor there’s a lot to learn and there are many ways to approach the subject matter. You’ll find all kinds of tips, tricks, advice, and activities in the books that are in this list. Enjoy!
Remember, these books were all recently added to the Amazon Kindle library, and they were free at the time of this posting. Amazon has the right, as do the authors, to change the prices at any time, so know that it’s possible that these aren’t free when you get to this post. Please verify the cost of the books before you select them for download.
While I use the free Kindle e-reader software on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone (shoot, I sound like an Apple commercial!), half the members of the Hectic Household have Kindles. We have regular discussion over which platform is better and why. I can truly say that the Kindle owners love their devices. If you’re looking to buy a Kindle, there are some great deals on Kindle E-readers at Amazon right now!
Please also note that this post contains affiliate links. We don’t get much of a commission when you buy things through our link, but we get a little bit.
